This morning I was asked by a potential client to send some comps, because they are trying to convince THEIR client to go with black and white for the cover of a magazine. I was happy to send them the images for lay-out purposes, but now have spent the rest f the day going through my old film images and really missing how I used to shoot. The above image is one they wanted, and was from a trip I took to India when I was 22. I decided that I wanted to do a story, found a great one, put my things in storage and blew a good chunk of my savings. I really had no idea what I was doing, but loved working with the St. Stephen’s Community Health Center in Delhi. Even though these have fallen out of my portfolio, these are still some of may favorite images… no matter what anyone else thinks.

Over the next few weeks, I am trying to re-edit my portfolio and looking for feedback on single images that I am considering including in the edit. Any thoughts are helpful, as many of the images I am going to post over the next few weeks have not seen the light of day.

I spent the better part of last week shooting video and photos for the NPR Music. I typically do not shoot or really like music photography, but I am pretty happy with this image of the band Middle Brother. Check out the rest of NPR’s coverage of SXSW here.

Usually I get assignments for stories from news editors, but this is one that I am actively pitching…again. Last year, I had the opportunity to follow Texas soldiers from BAMC to the Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Co. for NPR.org. This year, I am wanting to pitch the story out again and I am hoping that someone in the news realm will want to take a look at the soldiers coming from Fort Hood. While combing through my archive and looking through edits from last year, I found these two images that did not make the cut in the online gallery. Strange what time and distance will do when editing photos.
